This portable Haze vaporizer is made by a company called Haze Technologies.  The Haze is the first dual bowl vaporizers to offer both conduction and convection heating methods for dry herbs and can also be used to vape your concentrates and e-liquids.  The two chambers are isolated from each other inside the unit, when one side heats up it won’t  cause the other side to heat up as well, so each side only gets vaped when you want it to.  I have found out that the capacity of each side to be approximately 0.3g when using dry herbs, but it will vary a little depending on how finely you grind.  To use wax or oil concentrates with it you would use one of the cans or cartridges the unit provides.  It comes with small wicks inside of them which you would use with e-liquids, for everything else you take the pads out.

The size of the Haze has a design similar to that of a flask.  The weight is a little more than portables due to the stainless steel but not something that would be a discouragement from purchasing the unit.  It fits perfectly in a pair of jeans pocket and can easily be concealed in a back pack or hoodie.

The Haze comes with two different mouthpieces or stems, a glass piece and a stainless steel piece.  The mouthpiece secures back into the unit when not in use but I highly recommend that you don’t do that because it tends to get stuck after a few sessions.  What you’re suppose to do is turn the unit upside-down or give it a little flick to make the mouthpiece slide out.  Then it kind of just gets held into place once you pull it out far enough.

The heat exchange system works by pulling in cool air from outside the unit and passes by the air that exits in the unit.  This cools the vapor while simultaneously pre-heating the air entering the chamber which will help preserve the battery life.

Cleaning is very easy all you have to do is remove the mouthpiece, insert a que tip with alcohol on the que tip into the chamber and that’s all it needs for cleaning. A tweezer and shovel tool as well as a two sided brush tool come in the package with the unit for further cleaning and maintenance.  Your herb has no contact with the heating bowls, which will help for the bowls to remain clean at all times.  The only thing you need to clean is the vapor chamber with a little alcohol and a q-tip.

Don’t expect Huge clouds or the best vapor quality but if you need to vape out in public then I highly recommend the Puffit 2.  It is unlikely anyone on the street would recognize what you were doing if you used it.   Obviously, if you visibly exhale a large amount of vapor, that’s definitely a hard giveaway.  Ordors are also indicators of consumption, so it’s important to be aware of these factors when in public.  One issue that prevents optimal discretion is the time it takes to heat up the  Puffit 2.  However, this problem can be solved by heating the vaporizer out of sight until it is ready to be used.   As long as you inhale from it relatively quickly, there is little risk of attracting attention.  If anything, someone would just think you were using an actual inhaler.  You start a session by filling the heating chamber with dry herbs,  packed tightly.  You then insert the core into the shell and press down for a few seconds.  It will vibrate to indicate it’s starting the process, then do a “heartbeat” double vibrate every few seconds to indicate that it’s still heating.  When it’s reached the target at the temp, you’ll feel two long vibrations and you’re ready to take a hit.  For that, simply breathe in through the mouthpiece as you would an asthma inhaler.   The first cycle doesn’t seem to produce much vapour.  However if you wait 12 seconds, you can press the core again and start a new heating round.  The heating process won’t last as long, since the chamber will already be on the temp, but by the end of the second heating cycle, you start seeing good vapour come out.  This vapour isn’t super thick, however it is very desirable.  The extraction process seems to be efficient, managing to achieve its effects with no trouble.  The flavor is great.  After about three or four cycles, you should open up the chamber and stir the herbs with the included metal stick.  You can then keep going for about four more cycles before you start tasting the herbs being a little toasted.  You can do a final stir and you’ll still get some effect for a couple more cycles, but after the 10^th or 12^th cycle, you’re reaching the end of the line.

The Puffit 2 uses a USB charging system and the battery attaches directly to the chamber/bowl.  It’s the top part of the unit as it’s sticking out and actually really small for the amount of battery life it puts out.  The battery seems to last for about 50 cycles after a full charge, which is enough to fill up and empty the chamber about 4 times.  Even when the battery is running low, it still reaches full temp and you get the full effect.

Overall I would have to say that I’m really impressed with the Puffit 2, and the improvements that have been made.  You can expect consistently smooth vapour production.  I would not recommend any other unit that performs as well as the Puffit 2 in a price range of just a little under $100 that really can’t be beat for what the Puffit 2 has to offer.  Be advised, if you’re looking for colossal clouds of vapor, this vaporizer simply isn’t for you.  However, if discretion is the name of your game, why not give the Puffit 2 a shot.  You will be glad that you did.

The Davinci Ascent has a fairly large chamber and it holds 0.3 grams of material.  This is larger than most units, and it works best with a full load in the chamber.  You can use screens and other things like that to cut down on bowl size, but your best results will come from a full pack.  It is also highly recommended to get screens for the bottom of the chamber, because material that is finely ground will fall through on occasion.  It’s not like your whole load will be falling through, but a few pieces might.  As far as turning the Davinci Ascent on, you simply press the power button on the top of the unit near the mouth piece.  The default temperature is 375F, when your unit reaches your set temp (only1-2 minutes)you can set it by Fahrenheit or Celsius in 1 degree increments, you will see an icon that looks like a cup of soup, and that lets you know that you are ready to vape.

The Davinci Ascent is a great portable vaporizer.  It can do herbs and concentrates, it can be used while charging, and it’s very user-friendly.  The vapor quality is very good as well and comes out at about density compared to other units.  It’s clear that the company put a great deal of work into their second generation unit.   Overall, I definitely think the Davinci Ascent is worth purchasing and I’m sure you will be happy with it.
